Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Kirk Cousins’ strange elbow-centric celebration after scoring a rushing touchdown against the New York Jets got a lot of attention.
Cousins crouched and did an elbow flap that looked like he was trying to do a dance move while pretending his arm was a chicken wing.
The celebration made a lot more sense when he explained it after the Raiders’ win.
“I call that my wellness celebration. You know, we do a lot of tissue work here. That’s one of the main techniques they do,” Cousins said of his celebration.
“So I said, ‘If I run a touchdown in, I’m gonna give a shoutout to all the staff that work so hard to help us feel good,’” he added before admitting that Brock Bowers had to remind him to do the celebration because he was about to forget.
The NFL’s Instagram account posted a clip of Cousins saying this along with him doing the celebration on Sunday.
Legendary quarterback turned Fox analyst Tom Brady commented twice on the post, one of which sayid, “❤️❤️❤️LFG❤️❤️❤️” and another saying, “Hit em with the wellness!!!! 😂😂😂”.
Brady also added the video to his Instagram story on Monday and wrote, “My favorite celly all-time 😂😂😂💪💪💪”.
“Can’t believe I never thought of this in 20 years,” Brady’s caption added.
There aren’t many quarterbacks who can claim they accomplished something that Brady didn’t during his 23-season NFL career.
Cousins can now consider himself in rare territory, albeit more for something he cooked up off the field than something he did on it.
