Michael Douglas provided an update on his pal, Jack Nicholson, who is rarely seen these days.
The “Fatal Attraction” star, 82, was asked about working with Nicholson while appearing at an event in Swansea, Wales, to promote his recently published memoir, “One Helluva Ride.”
The two never acted together, although Douglas produced the 1975 drama “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” which starred Nicholson.
“I would have liked to have acted with Jack,” Douglas said. “He’s not working any more. He’s well. He has disappeared. I know that.”
“I still see him, but he is fine,” he continued, per the Independent. “He is up there by his house and walking around in his slippers. It happens. He deserves it. I understand. He is a few years older than me, but I understand.”
Nicholson, 89, never officially announced his retirement, but he hasn’t acted since 2010’s “How Do You Know,” and has rarely been seen since.
In April, Nicholson’s daughter Lorraine shared a rare photo of her dad hanging out with singer Joni Mitchell.
“89!!” she wrote on an Instagram Story, sharing a photo of the three-time Oscar winner at home.
The post also included a second throwback image of the “Batman” star, flashing his signature grin while holding a cigar.
A second throwback image in the post captures a much younger Nicholson in a bright red “Drink Coca-Cola” T-shirt, cigar in hand and flashing his signature grin.
In 2025, he made a rare public appearance at the 50th anniversary of “SNL.”
Sitting in the audience, next to Lorraine, he introduced his “Anger Management” costar, Adam Sandler.
His previous public appearance was in May 2023 when he attended the NBA Playoffs Western Conference Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets.
Nicholson was a ubiquitous presence at Lakers games for many years.
