Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal gave a sharp rebuttal to commentator Harsha Bhogle following an intense verbal exchange with Sri Lankan fast bowler Asitha Fernando on Day 2 of the second Test between India and Sri Lanka in Colombo.
The clash erupted immediately after Fernando dismissed Jaiswal on Day 1. After knocking the left-handed batter, the Sri Lankan fast bowler celebrated aggressively, advancing straight toward the departing batter with animated gestures and verbal barbs.
Rather than quietly walking off, Jaiswal returned to confront the bowler, prompting the Sri Lankan players and on-field umpires to intervene and separate the pair.
Veteran sports broadcaster Bhogle, in a video shared by Cricbuzz, questioned Jaiswal’s reaction, suggesting that engaging with a bowler after being dismissed was unnecessary and risked disciplinary sanctions.
The young cricketer took a stand against Bhogle’s on-air criticism, insisting that external observers should not pass judgment without knowing the exact verbal provocations made on the field. Jaiswal also made it clear that while India remains focused on performance, the team has zero tolerance for opponents who overstep the boundaries.
“If you don’t know what he said, then please don’t make your judgment. If anyone cross the line, we need to let them know this India will fight and reply,” Jaiswal wrote in the comment section of the video.

Jaiswal has displayed glimpses of his trademark aggressive intent in the ongoing two-match Test series in Sri Lanka, though massive scores have eluded him.
In the first Test at Galle, the young opener set a brisk tone with a punchy 32 off 37 balls in the first innings before falling for a duck in the second. In the second Test at Colombo, he struck a fluent, stroke-filled 45 off 53 balls, including nine boundaries, before being dismissed by Fernando.
Jaiswal will look to play a big knock in the second innings and end the Sri Lanka series on a high note.
