Arman Tsarukyan and Khamzat Chimaev often give off serious buddy cop energy in their social media content. However, it appears ‘Borz’ is not always as jovial as he comes across online.
According to Tsarukyan, Chimaev can be the most affable person one moment and then be completely closed off and cold an hour later. Tsarukyan admits that he can be the same way at times.
During a recent appearance on the PBD Podcast, when the host asked him how Chimaev is away from the cameras, Tsarukyan said:
“You can see him once, he can be the funniest guy ever, but you can see him in one hour, he can be the scariest guy ever. He can change his mood so fast. And I ask my guys, and my friends, they said, ‘You are the same. You can be funny in the morning, and in the evening, you come and like, why are you doing this, when you have a bad mood.'”

Tsarukyan added:
“Maybe because we are fighters, or I don’t know. He is the same. Some days, you cannot even talk to him… Some days, he never stops; he can talk for three-four hours.”

When Arman Tsarukyan got 100% real about grappling match against Khamzat Chimaev
As proficient a wrestler as Arman Tsarukyan is, he was in survival mode when he grappled Khamzat Chimaev at the Hype Reality 3 show in 2024.
Chimaev and Tsarukyan were opposing captains in the show and engaged in a grappling exchange that saw ‘Borz’ use his size and strength to largely control the entire match.
Reflecting on the contest during a 2025 interview with Ariel Helwani, Tsarukyan said:
“He is tough, strong, big. It was like submission only, and I just wanted to not give him submission and just to be a draw. He weighed 98 kilos [216 pounds]. I was 183 pounds.”
