The Rangers have recalled forward Brennan Othmann and defenseman Zac Jones. Othmann’s recall sounds like it is insurance on Chris Kreider’s injury. Since it was Othmann who was recalled and not, say, Alex Belzile (just a name, not an indictment), I think it’s a safe bet that Kreider won’t be able to play tomorrow against the Islanders. Kreider’s been fighting injuries all season, and it may honestly be best to shut him down for a bit.
Jones was on a conditioning stint, which had finished without an extension. Hopefully this means the poor kid can get in the lineup as, at the very least, the 6th best defenseman on the active roster.
Matthew Robertson was returned to Hartford.
