NY Rangers Game 62: Rangers vs Washington

The Rangers are reeling us back in, aren’t they? Back-to-back 4-0 wins over bad teams has the Rangers in a playoff position for the first time in months. Their 7-3-0 record in their last 10 is tops in the Metro Division, and they sit in the final wild card spot with 66 points in 61 games, behind Columbus (68 points in 61 games). Detroit sits on the outside looking in with 66 points in 61 games. The free falling Devils have 72 points in 63 games, so they are within striking distance as well. Things are getting interesting.

Washington represents the first challenge in the post-Ryan Lindgren era. The Caps are still atop the Metro, but have looked very vulnerable of late with a 5-3-2 record in their last 10 games. It seems the Alex Ovechkin show has derailed them a bit, but they will still make the playoffs.

The Rangers have one of the toughest remaining schedules and need to go roughly 15-6 to secure a playoff spot. That means beating good teams. Who better to start with than the Caps?
