The New York Rangers are in the midst of a rough slump, going 1-4-1 in their last five games as goaltending has come crashing back down to Earth. The league average goaltending has exposed the Rangers defensive woes, as the second and third pairs are getting buried. Yet those pairs remain the same, so hopefully the deployment will change to hopefully get more out of those four defensemen. The only lineup change is flipping Pavel Dorofeyev and Gabe Perreault to try to get the former going.
The Oilers are a lot like the Rangers, as they are a tale of two teams. One team is the Oilers with Connor McDavid on the ice, the other is without him on the ice. Much like the Rangers with Adam Fox on/off the ice, the splits for the Oilers are real bad without McDavid. This is the only way to slow the Oilers down right now.
