The New York Mets are in sell mode with the trade deadline a few weeks away. The NL East franchise is reportedly open to trading away several big-name players on their roster.
According to MLB insider Chelsea Janes, a rival executive revealed that the Mets are open to trading everyone except Carson Benge, A.J. Ewing, Christian Scott, Nolan McLean and Juan Soto.
Mets stalwart Francisco Lindor is also rumored to be on the list of players available at this year’s trade deadline. When Sal Licata asked Janes about the possibility of the veteran infielder getting traded by the Mets, she said it’s unlikely Lindor will be moved.

“I think it’s possible, I don’t think it’s impossible,” Janes said. “I have not heard anyone say, ‘No, we are definitely not trading Francisco Lindor.’ Steve Cohen said he doesn’t think he’s going anywhere and that is not the same thing. That being said, he’s an MVP-quality player making MVP-type money for the next five years and the Mets need talent in 2027.
They’re not just gonna give them away, so you need a team that is going to value him as an MVP and not see this as some kind of salary dump. It’s not a bad contract yet even though he hasn’t played great this year, you’re gonna have to get things for him, so you got a team that’s got money and a team that has talent to give for someone like him. They’re out there, but there’s not many of them.”
Lindor, who has struggled with injuries this season, has five homers and 12 RBIs while slashing .216/.298/.373 in 40 games. He has five years and $155 million remaining on his contract, which is a big hurdle for any team willing to trade for Lindor.
Mets could trade several pitching pieces at trade deadline
While Francisco Lindor’s chances of getting moved remain unlikely, the Mets could cash in one of the best relievers in the league by trading away Luke Weaver.
According to Chelsea Janes, the Mets Good get a good haul for Weaver as he will be under control through next season. She named Freddy Peralta and Clay Holmes as the starting pitchers likely to be coveted by many teams.
