As mentioned earlier, GTA 6 has reportedly generated $446 million from preorders as of August 25, 2026. Naturally, this figure could increase following the recent Extended Look at the game. Since Sensor Tower updates its data weekly, the latest figures could change with its next update.

The report also estimates that 4.55 million units have been preordered. Of these, 77% are from PS5, generating an estimated $344 million, while 23% are from Xbox, generating approximately $102 million. In terms of units, the estimated breakdown is 3.51 million units on PS5 and 1.04 million units on Xbox.

While speaking earlier with CNBC’s Andrew Ross Sorkin, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick said the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition was being purchased more frequently despite its $100 price tag. Zelnick also explained that stronger demand for the more expensive edition could be because the players who have preordered the game so far are more likely to be hardcore fans rather than part of the broader gaming audience.
