“‘Chanco’ wouldn’t beat you” – Fans react to Dillon Danis’s wild MMA butterfly effect involving Islam Makhachev and others

Dillon Danis believes one UFC injury triggered a chaotic butterfly effect that shaped the careers of Islam Makhachev, Ilia Topuria, and others in unprecedented ways. Danis’ take has since sparked a wave of reactions from fight fans.

In a recent post on X, a jiu-jitsu aficionado argued that Shavkat Rakhmonov’s knee injury sparked a chain reaction that altered the landscape across two weight divisions and shaped the careers of several fighters.

‘The Nomad’ was once a leading contender for a welterweight title shot, and Danis believes that if Rakhmonov had remained active, Makhachev would never have moved up to welterweight and captured the title.

He also believes that an active Makhachev at lightweight could have prevented Topuria from becoming the champion, potentially creating a scenario where Justin Gaethje never gets his hands on the coveted lightweight title:

“It’s crazy how one man’s injury changed the whole trajectory of the sport. If Shavkat Rakhmonov doesn’t blow his knee out, Islam doesn’t move up, Justin never becomes champion, Ilia might not have a second belt, JDM doesn’t get a championship, Ian Garry wouldn’t be fighting for a belt, and so much more. What a sport!”

When Islam Makhachev addressed Dillon Danis’ brawl at UFC 322

Dillon Danis got into a brawl with Islam Makhachev’s team at UFC 322, getting into a physical confrontation with fighters like Magomed Zaynukov, aka ‘Wild Chanco’.

The incident had dire consequences, with Dana White banning Danis from future UFC events. Addressing the incident during the post-fight press conference, Makhachev insisted that ‘El Jefe’s’ history of bad-mouthing his team was what landed him in the precarious situation:

“When you talk about someone for the last five years, when you meet them, you have to answer for what you said. And today, I don’t think he answered. He still says a lot of bad things about our team. And today he came, and someone just met him. He spoke bad about these guys, and today, these guys just met him. That’s it.”
