Brendan Schaub recently shared his thoughts on Ian Machado Garry losing to Islam Makhachev and took some shots at the Irishman’s diet.
Garry went up against Makhachev in a welterweight title fight in the main event of UFC 330 earlier today at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While many expected Garry to push Makhachev to his limits thanks to his flashy striking style, the Dagestani grappling savant managed to outpoint the Irishman over a five-round bout and got his hand raised via unanimous decision.
During the build-up to this fight, Garry notably appeared in a commercial for animal rights charity People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and advocated for a vegan diet. In the past, he credited his vegan diet for helping him level up as a fighter and explained how it helped him recover quicker.
After Garry’s loss against Makhachev, Schaub took to X and jokingly suggested that the Irishman would’ve taken the UFC welterweight title home if he ate meat. The former UFC heavyweight fighter wrote:

Islam Makhachev credits Ian Machado Garry for giving him a “hard time” after UFC 330
Islam Makhachev has nothing but respect for Ian Machado Garry after their showdown at UFC 330 and admitted that ‘The Future’ gave him a “hard time” in the octagon.
In a post-fight interview, the reigning UFC welterweight champion also recalled his first fight against Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284 in February 2023 and said:
“Ian is a great fighter, good man, and I just respect him. He gave me a hard time, but I still prove every fight. Thank you for this match. Oh, let’s see [if that was his toughest fight]. Maybe in Australia [against Alexander Volkanovski], the first one. It’s also very hard.”
He added:
“He improve a lot. He working with one of the best fighter coaches, Demian Maia. That’s why I see he improve his grappling also.
