Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa, who has recently attracted attention from Premier League champions Arsenal, has allegedly been offered a new contract by his club.
Konsa, 28, has established himself as one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League over the last few seasons. The ball-playing defender won his first trophy in May after guiding Aston Villa to a confident 3-0 UEFA Europa League final triumph against Bundesliga outfit Freiburg.

Now, according to The Athletic journalist Jacob Tanswell, Aston Villa have placed a new contract on the table for the 28-cap England international. But, Konsa has yet to commit his future to the Unai Emery-coached team.
Meanwhile, Konsa has been linked with a summer move to Mikel Arteta’s outfit, as per Sky Sports. He has been identified as a replacement for William Saliba, who is set to be out for a long time after recently injuring his back.
The ex-Brentford man, who featured in all eight of England’s 2026 FIFA World Cup matches, has a deal until June 2028 at Aston Villa. He has bagged 12 goals in 286 appearances across all competitions for the Villans so far.
Pundit urges Arsenal to sign Bundesliga winger
Speaking recently on talkSPORT, former Watford striker Troy Deeney claimed that Arsenal should try to rope in Norway and RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa. He said (h/t Metro):
“I haven’t heard anyone linked with this guy. For me, he is frightening. He’s 21 years of age and he is showing you that he can do it both goals and assists at his age. He came on in the second half against England and did really well, but I just think at 21 and on that high left now, which is an area that most teams are struggling.”
Deeney, who also played for Birmingham City and Walsall, added:
“Arsenal have got that problem, so why would you not look at a young man like that? This kid’s very quick as well. I remember watching him in the qualifying games and he’s the only one who can keep up with (Erling) Haaland. He’s a really talented player and has obviously played in the Champions League as well, so he’s got all that experience.”
The Norwegian has gone from strength to strength since joining his side from Club Brugge in 2024, registering 10 goals and 11 assists in 71 overall outings so far. He also scored once in six 2026 FIFA World Cup matches.
