In this particular installment of “Remember When,” we revisit the night of December 15th, 2023, where an up-and-coming fourth liner made his mark right before the end of the game. Adam Edstrom’s 1st NHL goal was scored in the closing seconds of his NHL debut for the Rangers. The 23-year-old Swede, who clocks 6-foot-7, was summoned earlier that day from Hartford of the American Hockey League and ended up replacing late-scratch Nick Bonino.
Edstrom would receive a pass from then Ranger Barclay Goodrow as the team rushed up the ice one final time and the shot was just enough to get past Ducks goaltender Lukas Dostal to seal the deal.
Edstrom would later be returned to Hartford for the remainder of the season. But as we all know, he had a strong 2024 preseason and has been a steady presence on a resurgent Rangers 4th line this season. Edstrom has given the Rangers the size they need to go along with solid hockey skills.
