Tecno Camon Slim unboxing – GSMArena.com news

Say hello to the latest in Tecno’s line of slim phones – the Camon Slim 5G. It’s similar, yet different from the 4G Camon Slim, and they shouldn’t be mistaken (though they surely will).

We’ve got the phone as well as Tecno’s quirky MagBadge accessory alongside it. Let’s unbox them, but first, if you want a video presentation of the Tecno Camon Slim 5G, check out our TikTok!

The phone ships in a well-stocked box with a clear hard case with MagSafe, a 45W charger, a USB-A cable, and a tempered glass screen protector. And yes, the screen protector is a nice touch, but it’s pretty close to useless if it doesn’t come pre-installed. Most people don’t know how to properly install one of these and will just end up botching the job and throwing the protector away.

The Tecno MagBadge is a quirky circular external screen accessory that either attaches through the MagSafe magnets to the back of the phone or can be carried around in its little rubber pouch.

The pouch comes with a Hello Kitty-esque carabiner that you can strap to a bag or backpack, though we wouldn’t recommend it, as the MagBadge doesn’t sit very snug inside its case-slash-pouch and feels like it will fall out easily.

Despite the magnets, the MagBadge uses Bluetooth to connect to the Tecno Camon Slim 5G. By default, it will cycle through a pre-chosen set of circular wallpapers, but you can go through its interface by swiping up and down.

The screen is a 1/73-inch AMOLED panel that’s similar to a smartwatch, but larger. There’s also a built-in battery, a USB-C port for charging, and a power button.

The accessory can serve as a remote shutter, a selfie mirror, and a photo gallery widget.

The Tecno Camon Slim 5G is, obviously, a slim phone at 6.39mm. It doesn’t feel fragile, however, and has some stellar durability specifications. It’s IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K rated, and adheres to the MIL-STD-810H military standard for shock and drop resistance. There’s also a TÜV SÜD certification for “60 months of sustained fluidity”, but that’s related to the software. The phone runs HiOS, based on Android 16 with the promise of three major Android updates and five years of security updates.

A word on specs. The phone runs a MediaTek Dimensity 7300e SoC with 8 gigs of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage. Upfront, it packs a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with 1208×2644 resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. On the inside, there’s a potent 6,000mAh battery with 45W charging.

There’s a 50MP wide-angle main camera with Sony’s Lytia 700C sensor – a large-for-the-class 1/1.56-inch imager with OIS. It also features an 8MP ultrawide on the back, and a 32MP selfie on the front. In keeping with Tecno Camon tradition, it also has a tally light on the back that lights up when you’re recording video.

There are quite a few colors to choose from on the Tecno Camon Slim 5G. Ours is the iPhone 18-anticipatory Burgundy Red, but it also comes in Neo Mindrian, featuring a Piet Mondrian-inspired abstract design on the back, Matisse Black, Rebel Pink, and Van Gogh Blue.
