iQOO 16 tipped to come with a higher refresh rate screen, new design

iQOO is said to launch the iQOO 16 in September, with the latest rumor from China claiming it will have a higher refresh-rate screen than its predecessor.

The word comes from reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, who claimed the iQOO 16 will feature a 165Hz refresh rate screen. It will be a 6.85″ flat 2K display sourced from Samsung. For comparison, last year’s iQOO 15 came with a 6.85″ flat display having a 144Hz refresh rate.

Furthermore, DCS claimed that the iQOO 16’s rounded corners and bezels have minimal changes, but said the camera module on the rear is small, square-shaped, and placed in the upper-left corner of the back panel as part of the revamped design.

DCS also reiterated that the iQOO 16 will be powered by the unannounced 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro (SM8975) SoC.

Previously, the tipster claimed that the iQOO 16 will come with an 8,500 mAh battery, 100W wired charging, wireless charging, symmetrical dual speakers (1115 series), an X-axis motor (0916 series), and USB 3.2.

Other iQOO 16 features tipped by DCS include a 3D ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, a dedicated graphics chip (could be the Supercomputing Chip Q4), and an IP68/69 rating. Its primary camera is being tested with a 50MP OmniVision OV50Q sensor.

If you were expecting the iQOO 16 to come with a cooling fan, DCS claims that’s not happening.
