Samsung Galaxy A18 appears on Geekbench with key specs

Samsung is rumored to unveil the Galaxy A18 in the coming weeks. While there’s no word from the Korean brand about the Galaxy A18 yet, the smartphone has appeared on Geekbench, which reveals its key specs.

The Geekbench database reveals that the Samsung Galaxy A18, bearing model code SM-A185G, is powered by MediaTek’s MT6789 octa-core chip, which corresponds to the Helio G99 – the same chip that powers the Galaxy A17 4G. A rumor last month claimed that the Galaxy A18’s 4G model will use a MediaTek chip, while the 5G version will have a Qualcomm chip at the helm.

The Galaxy A18 unit that ran the Geekbench test had 4GB RAM onboard and ran Android 17, likely having One UI 9 on top. It scored 745 and 2,073 points in Geekbench’s single and multi-core tests, respectively.

While the Galaxy A18 4G that surfaced on Geekbench has model code SM-A185G, we know there’s another 4G version bearing model designation SM-A185F, as its test firmware was spotted on Samsung’s European server. That model is also likely to have the Helio G99 SoC under the hood.

It’s also worth noting that while the Galaxy A18 4G’s processor remains the same as its predecessor, the design won’t be entirely different either. Leaked renders revealed you’ll get an Infinity-U notched display on the front and a vertically aligned triple camera setup on the rear.

The Galaxy A18’s launch date isn’t known, but a previous rumor claimed Samsung would launch the Galaxy A18 4G first, followed by the Galaxy A18 5G months later.

The Korean brand is also expected to begin the mass production of the 4G version sometime this month. It reportedly plans to produce 100,000 units of the Galaxy A18 4G in August, 2.4 million units in September, and 2.5 million units in October. However, production plans could change depending on market conditions. Production for the Galaxy A18 5G will begin in accordance with Qualcomm’s readiness.
