Bron Breakker’s former WWE partner is in contract dispute; on the brink of leaving the promotion

Bron Breakker’s former WWE partner might be on the brink of leaving his current promotion. There have been rumors of his return to the Stamford-based promotion.

Last month, reports emerged about Baron Corbin returning to the global juggernaut. The Lone Wolf left the company in November 2024 after his contract expired.

Before leaving the company, Corbin had a brief run in NXT, where he was involved in a program with Bron Breakker. The two stars started off as rivals before joining forces to become a tag team. The duo went on to win the 2024 Dusty Rhodes Classic Tournament and capture the NXT Tag Team Championship.

After his departure from WWE, Corbin began competing on the independent circuit. One promotion that he has been active in is MLW (Major League Wrestling), where he is one-half of the MLW World Tag Team Champions alongside Dijak.

In a recent episode of MLW Fusion, it was announced that Corbin (Bishop Dyer) is in a “contract dispute” with the promotion. The announcer, Rich Bocchini, addressed the situation by stating that there were tensions behind the scenes between the company and Dyer and that the latter was playing “hardball” regarding his contract.

“I’m being told that there’s major tension brewing behind the scenes involving Bishop Dyer and the League. Sources are telling me that Dyer’s dug in deep during the contract dispute – he’s playing serious hardball,” Bocchini said. [H/T: WrestleTalk]

Bocchini revealed that Dyer had hired an agent and was making “outrageous demands” in his contract negotiation.

“And now this is where this even gets more wild. He’s hired a notorious agent and the demands being floated are outrageous stuff. We’re talking a $190,000 Range Rover signing bonus. A $2,000 a night hotel suite. Even MLW investing in Dyer’s new coffee business. There’s negotiations and there’s whatever that is.”

Many believe this could lead to Corbin’s exit from MLW, fueling the rumors of his WWE return.

WWE Hall of Famer reacts to the rumors of Baron Corbin’s return

Speaking on his Something to Wrestle podcast, JBL spoke about the rumors of Baron Corbin returning to WWE. The Hall of Famer hoped that the rumors were true and praised Corbin’s work on the independent circuit.

“I hope the rumors are true. I was hoping that Baron Corbin wouldn’t just retire and decide, ‘You know the heck with it, I’m done with wrestling,’ because I thought he had a lot to offer. And you see from what he’s done with MLW and what he’s done on the independents around–he does have a lot to offer. It’s hard to get over, you know very few guys can truly get over. Baron Corbin has gotten over, and guys like that are rare.”

Only time will tell if Baron Corbin will return to the global juggernaut.
