NBA Fans React After Heat Reportedly Don’t Want New Star Signing’s Brothers, Thanasis and Kostas in Miami

antetokounmpo” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener noreferrer” data-is-sponsored=”false”>Giannis Antetokounmpo finally got his blockbuster move away from Milwaukee on Tuesday, with the forward joining the Miami Heat. However, the team did not sign either of Antetokounmpo’s brothers, Thanasis or Kostas, in the deal, prompting some NBA fans to speculate that Giannis could eventually grow unhappy if they don’t join him.

Heat Central shared a post on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting Miami’s reluctance to sign Antetokounmpo’s brothers, quoting ESPN writer Ramona Shelburne.

“The Miami Heat WILL NOT be taking the Antetokounmpo brothers on their roster, per @ramonashelburne,” Heat Central wrote.

“‘There won’t be any more Antetokounmpo brothers in Miami. That whole ‘we have Kostas and Thanasis on the team ’-I don’t think that’s going to continue from what I understand.'”

The revelation turned heads as the Antetokounmpo brothers have long been a part of the Bucks’ roster and were expected to move to Miami with Giannis.

But now, with neither brother expected to join the Heat, some fans questioned whether Giannis’s partnership with the franchise could sour if they didn’t make room for Thanasis or Kostas.

“Giannis will ask out in 2 or 3 years,” a fan wrote.

This is the moment the relationship starts heading downhill

While most fans believed the Heat’s reluctance to sign Giannis’ brothers would end badly, others praised Pat Riley and co. for remaining firm about how they build their roster.

Pat cool on that s*it lol

Although the Bucks have usually accommodated Giannis’ brothers, with Thanasis part of last season’s roster, the Heat seem to be taking a different approach. However, it remains to be seen if the decision will pay off or come to bite them as the franchise prepares for a new era.

NBA insider highlights two key reasons behind Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Bucks exit

Giannis Antetokounmpo ended his 13-year tenure with the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday, moving to the Miami Heat in a blockbuster trade. The switch highlighted his desire to win championships, but it was also a product of underlying factors.

According to NBA insider Jake Weinbach, Giannis’ exit was down to two main reasons.

“Giannis was ‘genuinely torn’ between loyalty and his desire to compete for championships,” Weinbach wrote. “But there were two crucial decisions in 2023 that initiated Antetokounmpo’s downfall with the Bucks (via ESPN). 1.) firing Mike Budenholzer 2.) trading Jrue Holiday.”

While Giannis would have loved to retire as a Milwaukee player, the issues between him and the Bucks were compounding for some time, leading to his eventual departure on Wednesday.
