DJI has officially launched the Osmo Pocket 4P in China, exactly one month after introducing the camera at the Cannes Film Festival. The pocket gimbal camera starts at CNY 3,799 for the standard kit.
The Osmo Pocket 4P’s main rival is the recently announced Insta360 Luna Ultra, another dual-camera pocket gimbal. The two companies are also battling it out in court, with DJI suing Insta360 over alleged patent infringement and Insta360 responding with a countersuit involving patents for gimbal and 360-degree camera technologies.
DJI’s new pocket gimbal camera features a 1-inch main sensor with LOFIC technology, an f/2.0 aperture, and an equivalent focal length of 20mm. It is joined by a telephoto camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor, an f/1.8 aperture, and a 60mm equivalent focal length.
The telephoto camera offers 3x native optical zoom and up to 12x digital zoom. The Osmo Pocket 4P also supports 10-bit video recording and D-Log2 color, and features a 3-axis mechanical gimbal with intelligent subject tracking.
For video, the camera can record at up to 4K resolution at 60fps, while slow-motion footage can be captured at up to 4K 240fps. On the photography side, it can shoot 37MP still images and also supports Panorama mode.
The Osmo Pocket 4P is equipped with a 2-inch rotating touchscreen display that reaches up to 1,000 nits of peak brightness. It also includes 3 built-in microphones, weighs 230g, and comes with 103GB of internal storage, expandable by up to 1TB via a microSD card.
Powering the camera is a 1,545mAh battery with fast-charging support. DJI claims it takes around 18 minutes to charge from 0 to 80%, while a full charge takes about 32 minutes.
Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth LE 5.4.
The DJI Osmo Pocket 4P is now available for pre-order in China in Classic Black and Pearl White color options.
It gets a starting price of CNY 3,799 ($560) for the standard kit, while the Osmo Pocket 4P Vlog kit is priced at CNY 4,299 ($635).
