Predictions ft. Daria Kasatkina vs Liudmila Samsonova, Marie Bouzkova vs Katerina Siniakova


Day 1 (Monday, May 18) of the WTA Strasbourg 2026 will feature the Round of 32 faceoffs in the singles’ event. Sixth-seed Daria Kasatkina will headline the first day during her faceoff with Liudmila Samsonova.

Katerina Siniakova, Magdalena Frech, Talia Gibson, McCartney Kessler, Jaqueline Cristian, Alexandra Eala, Oleksandra Oliynykova, and eighth-seeded Marie Bouzkova will also vie on the first day of the WTA Strasbourg Tournament. Daria Kasatkina and Liudmila Samsonova will compete against each other for the third time on the WTA Tour, with the Russian tennis player leading the head-to-head score with 2-0 as of now. Samsonova entered the Strasbourg event after her Round of 32 exit at the Italian Open, where Anastasia Potapova bested her 6-3, 6-2. She reached the third round at the back-to-back events in Madrid and Rome.

Although she has also reached the quarterfinals at the Brisbane International and Abu Dhabi Open, she has a negative win-loss record in the season, losing 11 of her 18 matches. Kasatkina has advanced to the main draw at the Strasbourg event after besting Anastasia Zakharova and Valentina Steiner in straight sets. Her best result of the season was clinching the WTA 125 tournament in La Bisbal d’Empordà, Spain, on May 3, 2026, where she overpowered Tamara Korpatsch.

#2. Marie Bouzkova vs Katerina Siniakova

Marie Bouzkova will make her appearance in France after her second-round exit in Rome, where Taylor Townsend overpowered her 6-3, 7-5. She defeated Panna Udvardy in the final 6-7(7), 6-2, 6-2 to bag the title in Bogota. The Czech tennis player has posted a 12-12 win-loss record in 2026, including 5-2 on the clay surface.

Katerina Siniakova also exited the Italian Open in the second round, where she faced a defeat against Anna Kalinskaya 4-6, 7-6(4), 7-5. She has a 3-2 win-loss record on clay in 2026 so far. Her best result of the event was reaching the quarterfinal round in 2020.
