Seattle Mariners outfielder Randy Arozarena has been in the news since his Mariners teammate Cal Raleigh declined his handshake offer during the World Baseball Classic clash between Team USA and Mexico.
Raleigh’s decision to snub his Mariners teammate has divided opinions. However, after Team Mexico’s WBC exit, Arozarena seemingly ignored the incident in his statement on Saturday.
“We didn’t get the results we wanted with Team Mexico, but I’m glad to be back in camp with my teammates,” Arozarena said. “The WBC is behind us now, and I don’t want anything to take away from the Mariners. I’m focused on the season and helping this team compete for a World Series.”

However, MLB insider Bob Nightengale reported that the veteran slugger vented privately to his Mexican teammates.
“Randy Arozarena vented privately to Team Mexico teammates, but declines to publicly address the incident he had with catcher Cal Raleigh upon return to Mariners camp and instead issues statement,” Nightengale wrote on X.
Mexico’s WBC campaign ended after a defeat to Italy in the final pool game on Wednesday. While Arozarena has rejoined the Mariners camp to prepare for Opening Day, Cal Raleigh is preparing for Team USA’s semifinal against the Dominican Republic.
