Nobody else than Aaron Judge

New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge and Philadelphia Phillies superstar Bryce Harper will share the locker room for the first time in their career as they suit up for Team USA for the World Baseball Classic.

While Judge and Harper are two of the biggest names in MLB, they share a mutual respect. Ahead of this year’s WBC, Harper shared his admiration for the Yankees and Team USA captain.

During an appearance on the “Pat McAfee Show” on Monday, the two-time MVP said he doesn’t want anyone else than Judge to lead Team USA.

“There’s nobody else I’d rather be wearing the captaincy on his chest than Judgey,” Harper said. “I’ve been excited to play with him the whole time.”

Talkin’ Yanks shared the clip of Harper’s admission on X, garnering more than 280k views in a few hours.

Judge and Harper are participating in the tournament for the first time with the Yankees star replacing veteran Los Angeles Angels slugger Mike Trout as the new captain.

Judge posted a .331 batting average, .457 OBP, 1.144 OPS, 53 home runs and 114 RBIs in 152 games to clinch is third MVP title in 2025.

Bryce Harper sent inspirational message to Aaron Judge before postseason

Aaron Judge and Bryce Harper’s bond came to the fore after the Yankees star shared the text he received from the Phillies slugger before the postseason last year. Judge said on the “Pat McAfee Show” this week:

“I think one of the coolest things, I was talking to Harper before the postseason this last year. He texted me probably the coolest thing. He was like, ‘Hey, one thing I tell myself every postseason, every big game… ‘Own the moment, don’t let the moment own you. There’s so much unknown, you don’t know what’s gonna happen, like, own the moment. Big spot, nobody’s on (base), who cares? Go out there and own it.’

“And, like, gave me chills… Before I walked onto the steps in Yankee Stadium, about to play the Red Sox, and before I went out there I was like, ‘Hey, own the moment.’”

Team USA failed at the final hurdle against Shohei Ohtani’s Japan in 2023. Fans will hope Judge and Harper’s partnership can push the team to the gold medal this year.
