ONE flyweight MMA contender Danny Kingad of the Philippines will have a straightforward approach against the heavy-handed ‘Wolf Warrior’ Hu Yong at ONE Fight Night 40.
‘The King’ made it clear he’ll test the Chinese slugger’s grappling in their three-round contest this February 13 at Bangkok’s iconic Lumpinee Stadium.
Kingad respects Hu’s durability and sheer toughness. So much so that the 30-year-old veteran admits it will be hard to finish off the Beijing native inside the distance.
The Lions Nation MMA representative observed Hu’s setbacks in the promotion, seeing his grappling as a possible weakness.

With that in mind, Kingad will gladly initiate some wild scrambles to get this fight to the ground and nullify the feared KO artist’s best weapons.
“His decision losses were mostly due to his opponents controlling him with top pressure on the ground. I think I can also beat him in that area and impose my will. My conditioning is also an advantage,” Kingad told ONE Championship in his pre-event interview.
Meanwhile, Kingad has also built a reputation for his never-ending gas tank and granite chin. The Filipino stalwart will seek a bounce-back performance following back-to-back setbacks.

Danny Kingad ready to trade heavy leather with Hu Yong
While Danny Kingad will wisely change levels if he sees an opening, he made one thing clear.
The wushu-specialist will not abandon his striking repertoire altogether and will match Hu Yong’s feared striking.
As far as the Filipino is concerned, the only thing that matters is getting his hand raised this coming Friday.
‘The King’ said in the same ONE interview:
“I’m not afraid to strike with him. But if there are openings, I will go after those takedowns. It’s just a bonus for me if I get to submit him or finish him via ground-and-pound.”
