Former NASCAR Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick’s son, Keelan Harvick, created history with his latest Late Model Stock Car race win at Florence Motor Speedway. Following that, former SHR crew chief Rodney Childers shared his reaction to Keelan’s latest milestone victory, sharing an X post.
The Icebreaker race ranks among the well-recognized Late Model Stock Car events. Keelan entered the event after his victory in the Modified and Pro Late Model races in 2025. During the race, the 13-year-old held off experienced drivers, including the defending Icebreaker champion Matt Cox and Lee Pulliam.
Thanks for the submission!
Kevin Harvick’s son started the race from near the front row and was consistent in the top three drivers throughout the event. Following that, a late restart gave the younger Harvick a chance to take the lead, and he took it well. He then crossed the finish line in P1 and became the youngest winner of the Icebreaker in his #62 Hunt Brothers Pizza car.
Reflecting on that, Rodney Childers stated:
“@KeelanHarvick and the @KHI_Racing guys got it done yesterday in the Icebreaker!”
The Icebreaker victory added yet another milestone to Keelan Harvick’s record. Previously, Kevin Harvick’s son became the youngest winner of the Snowflake 125, the pre-event of the Snowball Derby, held in December 2025. During the event, the younger Harvick took the lead from Tristan McKee with 24 laps to go and claimed the win.
“It’s just so special”: When Kevin Harvick opened up about being bested by his son, Keelan Harvick
In 2025, former NASCAR champion Kevin Harvick faced his son, Keelan Harvick, at Kern Speedway. The younger Harvick began the race from the pole position. Meanwhile, the former SHR driver led the first half of the 150-lap race.
During the second half of the race, the situation changed, and the former NASCAR driver was involved in a multi-car wreck. Following that, Keelan steered clear of the crash, gained the lead, and crossed the finish line in P1.
Reflecting on that, Kevin Harvick stated he enjoyed competing against his son and told the media house:
“It’s just so special to be able to do what we’re doing right now. It’s not anything that I had really thought about or planned. And even though he kicks my butt, it’s fun to be on the same racetrack. It creates new conversations that we didn’t really have in Legends cars and go-karts. And just to see the progression. I think it happens faster when we’re racing together.”
However, it was not easy for Keelan Harvick to win the race. After his father was out, the younger Harvick had an intense battle with Kenna Mitchell. Keelan blocked Mitchell in the last six laps of the race before emerging victorious.
