Shedeur Sanders has been the talk of the town ever since becoming the starting quarterback of the Cleveland Browns. So far in four appearances, he has put up a 1-3 record with the team. But the rookie quarterback has been decent on offense, recording 946 yards and five TDs passing.
However, analyst Jason Whitlock is not pleased with the narrative surrounding Shedeur Sanders and other black quarterbacks in the NFL. On social media, he went on a full-blown rant, talking about how ESPN is trying to force black quarterbacks into the limelight.
Thanks for the submission!
Whitlock then doubled down on his stance, highlighting how black people do not need “lowered standards” to be successful in any professional field.

“Why I am having this discussion about black QBs? ESPN and social media jam the black QB down our throats constantly,” Whitlock said. “‘So-n-So is the 5th black QB to win a Super Bowl, win a second MVP… X number of black QBs will start the season.

“It’s a constant drum beat that needs to go away. It’s lazy. It’s a dumbed-down convo for ex-jocks and pretend journalists who don’t know how to analyze the game in a proactive/interesting way beyond race. The convo damages the game and hurts the product. QB play has never been worse because we’ve lowered the standards and changed the style of play so we can meet race quotas.
“I believe black people do not not need lowered standards. When challenged and held to a standard we can meet those standards. … ESPN and social media drove the discussion of black QBs. … The matriarchal, always-rebel, submission-is-a-curse-word mentality adopted by ‘the culture’ … causes black QBs and athletes to reject the submission necessary to perform as a leader. That’s why there is a hyper focus and cult-like support of Shedeur Sanders. … They love that Shededur won’t submit to Kevin Stefanski.
“They want to talk black QBs, I’m here for it. It’s important. But I’m not going to have a suface-level, it’s racism conversation. That’s for feminized men and idiots.”
Throughout the season, multiple reports suggested that Shedeur Sanders had a strained relationship with Kevin Stefanski. After being selected in the fifth round, he served as the backup to Dillon Gabriel before finally getting his big break after the ex-Oregon star suffered a concussion during their 23-16 loss to the Ravens last month.
Jason Whitlock criticized Shedeur Sanders for his comments on Kevin Stefanski
Last month, before their game against the 49ers, Shedeur Sanders was asked about his relationship with Coach Stefanski during a press conference. The rookie was asked to share his thoughts on the narrative that the Browns coach was sabotaging his career.
“What people do outside the building isn’t really in my control,” Shedeur responded. “It’s not in my power. … But overall, I’m happy to be here. Coach Stefanski, he’s been coaching since I got here, and we’ve been doing a very great job with everything that’s going on.”
However, Jason Whitlock was not impressed with Shedeur Sanders’ response. He took to social media to criticize the rookie, stating that he threw Stefanski “under the bus.”
“The comments are pretending he answered this question well. He did not. He threw his head coach under the bus. Amazing. Fifth-round pick. Andrew Berry set Stefanski up for failure. This is wild.”
The Browns are currently dead last in the AFC North with a 3-11 record and a three-game losing streak. They face the Bills on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
