Per Vince Mercogliano, the Rangers lines tonight will feature their projected top-six, as Reilly Smith joins last year’s top-five. Hopefully this will give the Blueshirts a bit more balance in the top two lines. But that’s not the real story. That third line of Brett Berard-Filip-Chytil-Brennan Othmann has the potential to be lights out and an absolute pain to play against. That will be the fun line to watch tonight.
We are also getting good looks at both Adam Edstrom and Matt Rempe, both of whom are fighting for roster spots. Edstrom might have the in over a few others since he’s been a solid contributor on Hartford’s penalty kill, but the Rangers still lack a center other than Sam Carrick. Both Rempe and Edstrom can play center, they just haven’t at the pro level.
