    ONE Fight Night 39: “Who wouldn’t want to fight her?”

    Brazilian jiu-jitsu star Teshya Noelani Alo revealed how her ONE Championship debut came about and admitted that she didn’t waste time putting pen to paper.

    The Island Jiu-Jitsu martial artist opens her promotional account against fellow debutant Helena Crevar in a women’s bantamweight submission grappling joust at ONE Fight Night 39 this Friday, Jan. 23.

    Ahead of the contest, Teshya Noelani Alo said that she immediately agreed to lock horns with the Kingsway Jiu-Jitsu representative as soon as her coach called to inform her who she’d be up against in her promotional bow.

    “Well, honestly, I got a call from my professor, and he said, ‘Do you want to fight Helena?’ I’m like, oh, duh, who wouldn’t want to fight her?She’s amazing,” the Hawaiian martial artist recalled.

    This won’t be the first time the two female ground game wizards collide. Alo and Crevar first went toe-to-toe at an ADCC nationals meet more than three years ago, with the latter claiming the win after an intense back-and-forth clash.

    The pair has grown by leaps and bounds since that very day, and, as such, submission grappling fight fans can expect a high-octane clash when they renew their rivalry at ONE Fight Night 39 this week.

    Teshya Noelani Alo “looking forward” to test Crevar’s guard game

    During her pre-fight interview with Jits Magazine, Teshya Noelani Alo shared that she cannot wait to see how her mount game will match up alongside Crevar’s feared ability from guard.

    “Yeah, that’s something I’m looking forward to [her guard game]… She pulled guard the first time because her guard, it makes sense; you’re good at guard, you’re going to do guard.”

    She added:

    “If you’re good at standing, you are going to be standing. If you’re good at defending, you’re just going to wait until the person attacks. Her strength to me is guard.”
