Mattel just released their second Barbie Doll with Down Syndrome!
Barbie fans! Mattel has released a NEW 2024 Black Barbie Fashionista Doll with Down Syndrome, in partnership with the National Down Syndrome Foundation. She’s wearing a heart-print dress and pink glasses, and is currently available on Amazon, Target.com and Walmart.com priced at $10.99.
The 2023 Blonde Barbie with Down Syndrome is also still available from Target.com and on sale for $7.99 (regularly $10.97).

Barbie created these important dolls in collaboration with The National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS). In fact, model Ellie Goldstein posed with the 2023 doll on Good Morning America and said, “It looks like me, and it’s beautiful, and I love it to pieces.” 🥰
They have several meaningful symbols incorporated into their outfits, including the blue and yellow colors which represent Down Syndrome Awareness. The three arrows in the pink necklace or some of the heart prints on the dress represent the third 21st chromosome that individuals with Down Syndrome have, and they point outward to represent rising up and moving forward.

Happy tears. I didn’t think I would be crying about a Barbie when I woke up this morning, but here we are. My daughter with Down Syndrome isn’t quite old enough to play with a Barbie, but I ordered two for her (we all know the first one gets destroyed) and one for her cousin. I am so happy she will know what it’s like to have a doll that looks like her! Inclusion and representation mean the world to us.
