Marina Shafir has just made a subtle dig towards WWE during one of her recent interviews. She did this while speaking about her career trajectory and what led her to become who she is now.
The Problem did not have a memorable run with the Stamford-based promotion, as she was always a minor character. For the majority of her stint, she was an ally of Shayna Baszler. She was released in 2021 and ended up in AEW and ROH. Her resurgence came in 2024 after she allied with Jon Moxley and became a pivotal member of the Death Riders.
While appearing on Close Up with Renee Paquette, Marina Shafir was narrating how she ended up connecting with Jon Moxley. She spoke about her release from WWE but referred to them as “The Fed.” This was the company’s old nickname from decades ago. Nowadays, this term is used to speak negatively about the company or to refer to it out of spite.
“Cause you know, I had just gotten released from the fed, and I didn’t know what the f**k was gonna happen.”

Marina Shafir praises AEW ally
While Marina Shafir is a member of the Death Riders, she has found herself with an unlikely ally outside of the group.
She is the only female member of the group, but has already formed a partnership with another formidable force, Megan Bayne. The two are known as the Mega Problems and have already decimated several names on the roster. During the same interview with Renee Paquette, she spoke about what it was like getting to work with her and how Bayne’s work ethic was admirable.
“When she first came to AEW, really quiet. But she was this beautiful big b***h. So athletic, and just wants to get better. She works her f***ing a** off. I very much respect & appreciate that,” she said. [H/T – Drainmaker’s X]
Shafir has proven to be a major figure on the roster now, compared to her first few years with the company. She has found her stride and continues to be highly featured on TV. This looks to be the case as well to start 2026.
