10th seed Katie Volynets will take on former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu in the final qualifying round of the Miami Open 2026.
Volynets was up against Priscilla Hon in the first qualifying round. The American was off to a great start, claiming the opening set for the loss of only one game. However, Hon took a competitive second set in a tie-break to level the proceedings.
Hon carried this momentum into the third set, securing a break of serve to go 2-1 up. Volynets managed to turn things around after being on the backfoot for the last few games. She swept five of the next six games to score a 6-1, 6-7 (2), 6-3 win.
Andreescu was up against 20th seed Suzan Lamens in the first qualifying round. The Canadian’s misstep in the seventh game of the opening set gave her opponent the only break of the first set. Lamens held on to that lead until the end to claim the set.
Andreescu dished out a breadstick in the second set to take the match into a deciding set. She struck first in the third set as well, only to get broken while serving for the match at 5-4. Nevertheless, she snagged another break in the 11th game, and closed out the match in the next game to wrap up a 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 win.
