Introducing EAT TO THRIVE, A 6 Week Raw Foods Online Cooking Class, Green Juice Cleanse
I know I’m a bit belated in saying so, but Happy New Year! My big move to the Art Barn in West Sonoma County derailed me a bit, but I’m all settled now and loving my new home.
Those of you who know me can attest to how I’m sensitive to and sending hugs and blessings to any New Year’s Resolution-related parts. This is the time of year we often think about our New Year’s wishes. Our intention setting can include pleasurable desire-related parts (like the part of me that bought Jeff an REI backpack like mine and really wants to walk the Camino De Santiago pilgrimage to the sacred site Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, before I kick the bucket). But it can also include an intensely shaming focus on how we’re not good enough, especially when we’ve been eating and drinking too much- and not exercising as much because it’s dark and the weather sucks in the Northern Hemisphere- around the winter holidays.
How do we hold those parts gently, both the desires for pleasure and the wishes for self-improvement- with an IFS-informed sensitivity to trauma-related protectors and the wounded hurt parts they protect? We hold them in paradox- desire for improvement, with compassion, wanting and longing, with the tension around painful disappointment for the things we don’t yet have, yearning for betterment, but without bullying or setting ourselves up to let ourselves down.
With that framework in mind, I want to announce, with great excitement on my end, our latest online experience, which is a collaboration I’m doing with Chef Jonathan McCloud and raw foods/ cleanse expert Patricia Barrett, who used to run the cleanses at my integrative medicine center in Marin County.

For over fifteen years, I’ve had a practice of doing a post-holiday green juice cleanse- and now that 2026 has rolled around, I’m inviting you to join me! It’s the perfect time of year to have a reset. We’ll be starting right after Valentine’s Day, so you can eat your chocolate, drink your champagne, and then get ready for the precleanse right afterwards. We’ll be focusing this cleanse as a loving, IFS-informed antidote to the holiday indulgences, so we gain clarity around how we want to focus on our health, nutrition, eating, drinking, and cooking for the rest of 2026.
In addition to ten live Zoom sessions over five weeks to support and supervise your cleanse journey, this program also includes professionally filmed cooking classes (or I should say “Un-cooking classes, since most of the foods are raw) with Chef Jonathan McCloud and me, as well as a Q&A forum facilitated by Patricia Barrett to answer the many questions that arise as people cleanse, especially if it’s your first time. You’ll also get two books- The Whole Health Green Juice Cleanse Instruction Manual, written by me and Tricia to support your journey, so you can do this again in the future on your own if you wish- and one written by Chef McCloud- Thrive.

Those of you who have ever taken an in-person workshop in the Bay Area with me know that I often bring with me green juice, homemade raw chocolate, kale chips from my dehydrator, raw energy balls, and other healthy raw food treats. I’ve also led in person nutrient dense green juice cleanses since back when I was practicing integrative medicine fifteen years ago, alongside Patricia Barrett, who was in charge of the cleanses at our integrative medicine practice.
What you may not know is that I’ve also been making up my own recipes and trying to make healthy foods delicious for adults and kids alike for much of my adult life. What I’ve never tried to do is measure those recipes, write them down, or try to teach raw “un-cooking” classes. And I’ve never tried to include you all in this secret passion of mine.
