Hochul considering beefing up state oversight of Mayor Eric Adams, source says

Gov. Kathy Hochul wants to increase state oversight powers over embattled New York City Mayor Eric Adams, a source familiar with the governor’s intentions told The Post.

Hochul plans to pen ethics legislation meant to give the state more oversight over the mayor and senior city hall officials, NY1 first reported.

Hochul is stopping short of calling for Adams’ resignation, but is not ruling out removing the mayor, the source said.

It’s unclear however, how Hochul’s latest move might fare in the state legislature.

Leaders in the state Senate and Assembly were both taken off guard by the news of Hochul’s plans. Sources say they hadn’t been looped in by the Governor’s office.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
