Dumbest Thing I’ve Seen a Player Wear on Court

Jalen Suggs made headlines earlier this season after wearing his headband on his neck in games. Suggs didn’t have any idea why he started doing it, but the NBA banned it earlier this month. That didn’t stop the Orlando Magic star from wearing it during warm-ups, which garnered a lot of reaction on social media.

Before the Magic’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday, Suggs was wearing his headband as a choker while shooting to get himself started. He was making his return after an eight-game absence due to an MCL contusion suffered on Jan. 2 versus the Chicago Bulls.

The Magic have gone 4-4 in those last eight games, with Anthony Black stepping up in Suggs’ absence. Suggs has been very solid for Orlando, but he has been plagued by injuries over the past three seasons. He’s only playing in his 24th game of the campaign.

NBA fans were quick to react to Jalen Suggs‘ headband on his neck, trolling the Orlando Magic guard. Some called it an awful fashion statement that doesn’t feel comfortable.

Here are some of the comments on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Jalen Suggs’s headband around his neck might be the dumbest thing I’ve seen a player wear on court.

Why Jalen Suggs be wearing his headband as a choker?

Aye Jalen Suggs…. Let it go bruh. You look dumb ass hell 😂

I thought they banned Jalen Suggs from wearing the headband on his neck 😗

He thought he was starting some cool sh*t

This dude. It’s not tuff, bro😭😭

The NBA didn’t explain why it banned Jalen Suggs’ “drip,” but they wanted him to start wearing a headband as a headband, not as a choker. He was already sidelined when the league made the announcement, so he naturally donned it in his first game back.

However, Suggs didn’t want to be in trouble and wore it during his pregame routine. He wore it as a headband when he started the game alongside Anthony Black, Desmond Bane, Paolo Banchero and Wendell Carter Jr.

Why did Jalen Suggs start wearing his headband on his neck?

Speaking to reporters back in November after going viral for his fashion statement, Jalen Suggs was asked why he started the trend. Suggs explained that it was just something he randomly started doing, though he was inspired by what he called “football drip.”

“It’s funny. I don’t even know (if) there’s an explanation for it,” Suggs said, according to Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel. “Really, it originates as football drip, that’s where it stems from. But I don’t know, there really isn’t much else to it. I wear it on my neck, and once I feel into the game, into the flow, I put it on my head, and we rock.”

Suggs was able to do it for another month or so before the league banned him from doing it. Based on his pregame routine, he can still do it as long as it’s not in an NBA game.
