Carmelo Hayes might miss WrestleMania 42

Carmelo Hayes did not just lose his United States Championship last week, but also his WrestleMania 42 spot. He carried the title on his shoulder for three months and defended it on every possible occasion, and still, the workhorse champion is not walking into ‘Mania with it. Reports now suggest that nearly a week later, there is still no update on Hayes’ situation with the WrestleMania inclusion.

WrestleVotes on Fightful Select reported that WWE is aware of the online criticism it received. Sami Zayn was given the US Title just weeks before ‘Mania, which also takes away Hayes’ spotlight. WWE is well aware that Carmelo’s omission from the US title picture at this point is infuriating to the fanbase.

There is still no real update on how the former NXT Champion will make his way to the WrestleMania card. Further, there’s no heat on Trick Williams, who is getting the title shot at ‘Mania. There is actually a lot of pushback for Sami’s title reign, as it almost feels like Carmelo was robbed of this.

WWE’s only option is a US title triple threat at WrestleMania 42

Sami Zayn vs. Trick Williams has looked like the plan for a long time. The latter has been going under the skin of Zayn ever since he arrived on SmackDown. Thus, a singles match was needed to settle their animosity.

However, now Sami Zayn has brought the United States Championship into the picture. Thus, Carmelo Hayes would also want a rematch for the title he lost. So to sum it up, Trick vs. Sami vs. Carmelo could be an easy way out at WrestleMania 42.
