The top moves to use on Metagross are:
- Bullet Punch
- Earthquake
- Brick Break
- Zen Headbutt

Bullet Punch gives Metagross STAB Steel damage and has a very low cooldown, which means it can be used very frequently. The creature also learns Zen Headbutt, its STAB Psychic-type attack of choice, by leveling up.
Earthquake provides AoE coverage, particularly against Fire-types. Brick Break is Metagross’s second TM move in Legends Z-A, and provides useful coverage against Dark-types.

Metagross is designed to overwhelm opponents with its sheer damage output. To help it in both its base form and as a Mega Evolution, you should equip it with the Adamant (+Atk., -Sp. Atk.) nature.
If you don’t get a Metagross with this nature by default, you can find the necessary mint at flower stalls in Sushi High Roller, Wild Zone 3, and Jaune Plaza.
