A once fan-favorite AEW tag team seems to have gotten a step closer to reuniting on the promotion’s programming. The duo in question, Max Caster and Anthony Bowens, appear to be finding themselves on the same page more often, as seen in a recent digital exclusive.
It was almost a year ago, on Collision: Maximum Carnage 2025, that Anthony Bowens and Billy Gunn finally parted ways with Max Caster after weeks of strife between the former AEW World Tag Team Champions and their mentor. The Pride of Professional Wrestling and The “Best Wrestler Alive” subsequently embarked on their respective singles journeys, but found varying degrees of little success with respect to win/loss records and title aspirations.
Late last year, Tony Khan started putting Caster and Bowens in matches together, “forcing” them to tag with each other, according to the two stars. The AEW Head of Creative has (in kayfabe) also stipulated the team formerly known as The Acclaimed to spend time with each other and rebuild their rapport through various team-building exercises. In a recent backstage digital exclusive, Max and Anthony were seen performing “menial” tasks together setting up the arena for the show.
The former tag and trios champs did appear to bond together over the course of their errands, including helping out with the ring, backstage management, aid in putting up the merch stand, and even janitorial duties. TK’s exercise seems to have borne fruit as well, since Bowens opted to regard Caster at least as an “acquaintance”, and the latter admitted to no longer hating his former partner’s guts, while both agreed that their day went quite smoothly.
Considering how far their relationship has arrived from their earlier hostility, it remains to be seen how soon Max and Anthony might bring The Acclaimed back properly, and whether a reunion with Billy Gunn is in question after the veteran walked away from Bowens some time earlier.
Anthony Bowens had some new teammates recently on AEW TV
Although the duo once known as The Acclaimed could soon get back together, Anthony Bowens’ mending relationship with Max Caster has not stopped him from teaming with other talented units on the roster. Even though Kevin Knight and Mike Bailey had a bounty placed on their heads recently, they found a teammate in The Five-Tool Player, who joined forces with JetSpeed against Ricochet and GOA this past weekend on AEW Collision.

Unfortunately, The Demand prevailed over Bowens, The Jet and Speedball last Saturday. The heels did launch a post-match beatdown on the babyfaces, but surprisingly, Max Caster arrived in Bowens’ aid, followed by the Don Callis Family and the Conglomeration intervening and ending up in a show-closing stand-off.
