Powerhouse Hobbs has been a subject of debate ever since his AEW contract reportedly expired recently, and he was rumored to head to WWE. Amidst the situation, a veteran tipped for another star to follow in Hobbs’ footsteps.
The aforementioned legend is Bully Ray, and he spoke about current AEW star Wardlow. He has been part of the Jacksonville-based promotion since 2019 and has been a regular fixture for the company. Wardlow returned from a year-long hiatus in August 2025, only to be put on the sidelines a month later due to a torn pectoral muscle injury.
On the other hand, Powerhouse Hobbs last wrestled for AEW a week ago, following which his deal came up, and he has now reportedly signed with WWE. In a recent edition of the Busted Open podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray stated that Wardlow should also jump ship to the Stamford-based promotion like Hobbs. At the same time, Ray said that Hobbs had great potential and a bright future.
“I hope Powerhouse Hobbs is running, and running fast. And I hope Wardlow is right behind him. Powerhouse Hobbs looks the part. There’s so much upside to Powerhouse Hobbs, and maybe he can’t talk, I don’t know. I haven’t heard enough from Powerhouse Hobbs. But even if he can’t, you put him with a manager. You do something. That guy can be such a player for you.”- H/T Wrestling Inc
Wrestling veteran commented on Powerhouse Hobbs’ AEW exit
In a recent edition of his Drive-Thru podcast, Jim Cornette stated that Powerhouse Hobbs or any other talent’s departure from AEW is not a loss for the company since many of them are just there.
“It’s hard … It’s hard for anybody to be a loss in AEW except for the very … well, it lost a couple of the key names, Ospreay, we still haven’t seen him in a few months now, from his surgery, whatever. It’s hard for anybody to be a loss coz they are all just there. The thing about MJF, [he] left and did a movie or whatever the f*ck he did and has come back and the business … endure the numbers or endure anything at this point, nothing goes up or down … at this point no matter who’s there or not there.” – [18:43 – 19:43]
With Hobbs reported to have signed on the dotted line, it remains to be seen how WWE will plan his highly anticipated debut.
