She’s totally “Clueless.”
Alicia Silverstone sparked concern after eating what fans believe to be a poisonous berry in a TikTok video posted Monday.
“I’ve discovered something, and I can’t figure out what it is, and I need your help,” the actress said in the clip before displaying a berry that resembled a cherry tomato.
“I just bit into it because it was on the street,” she said, adding that she was testing whether it was a tomato.
Silverstone concluded that the fruit was “definitely not” a tomato because its leaves did not resemble that of a tomato plant. Additionally, the mystery fruit appeared to have been grown on a bush, while tomatoes grow on vines.
“So what the heck is this?” she asked.
The “Clueless” star showed her followers that the inside of the fruit was filled with tiny seeds and admitted she did not think she was “supposed to eat this.”
“It’s almost like a pepper,” she said while chewing. “Does anyone know what this is? I don’t know what it is. I need someone to tell me.”
Silverstone ended the video by sharing that she stumbled upon the red-yellow berry in England.
Fans swiftly flocked to the comments section with their theories on what the fruit could be and voiced concern for her health.
“OMG NO!! Jerusalem Cherry very poisonous in the Nightshade family, Hope you are ok,” one person commented on the post.
Others agreed that Silverstone had consumed a Jerusalem cherry, with some calling the fruit “toxic” and “dangerous” and another claiming “it can be fatal.”
“Is Alicia ok??? We need an update!” a netizen wrote.
“Girl! Berries are either great or freaking poisonous! Don’t eat random bush-things,” a commenter urged, with another asking, “WOMAN! UPDATE US! ARE YOU ALIVE AND WELL!?!”
“In Girl Scouts, I learned red is dead,” another added.
A Jerusalem cherry, also called solanum pseudocapsicum, is “harmful to eat” and can cause a person to experience symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, drowsiness, hallucinations and heart rate problems, according to the Northern New England Poison Center.
Silverstone has yet to post another video, and her reps did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
